Luangwa Walking Safari

5 Days Luangwa Walking Safari

Explore the South Luangwa, one of Zambia's premier walking safari hot spots. The perfect opportunity to discover some of the most breathtaking and untouched wilderness in Africa with high density animal populations, memorable scenery, unspoilt beauty and remote character. View elephant, hippo and even lion close-up under the supervision of professional and knowledgeable armed guides. We use a small deluxe seasonal bush camp with personal service. A firm favorite!

Day 1 - 3 : Chamilandu Bushcamp
On arrival at Mfuwe airport you will be met by your guide and enjoy a game drive to camp. Chamilandu's three exquisite tree-houses perch right on the edge of the Luangwa River. Each has its own raised veranda to loll on during the heat of the day, and an open-fronted en-suite bathroom with the same magnificent views over the tranquil waters. Two of the tree-houses have twin beds (queen-sized beds) and one has a double (king-sized bed). With capacity for just six guests, this is the perfect camp for small groups.
Chamilandu is open from June to November.
Activities:
Walking safaris and game drives around Chamilandu explore the impressive range of habitats in the area. With no fewer than seven oxbow lagoons behind camp, there are always thirsty animals around seeking refreshment. Our hide looks out over one of these lagoons and is the perfect place to take lunch, tea or to while away an afternoon in a hammock to the soundtrack of bathing elephant.

Day 4: Mfuwe Lodge
After Breakfast game drive to Mfuwe Lodge. Scattered along two lagoons' shady banks lie 18 thatched chalets from which you can enjoy your own private piece of Africa. Secluded covered verandas look out over wallowing hippo and thirsty game in the lagoons, while the comfortable sitting rooms and en-suite bathrooms with panoramic walk-in showers are the perfect place to wind down.
Activities:
This element of the safari is about game drives - game-viewing potential at Mfuwe Lodge and the surrounding area is second-to-none and the drives allow guests to explore as much of this prolific region of the Luangwa Valley as possible. Drives are led by our experienced team of guides, setting out at first light, and then again in the late afternoon when the wildlife is at its most active. After sundowners, spotlights are used to pick out a new cast of nocturnal creatures

Day 5: Depart Mfuwe
Your Guide will transfer you from camp to Mfuwe Airport for your onward travel arrangements. Plase ask you Zambezi consultant if you would like us to help you with your travel arrangements of if you are interested in extending your stay, perhaps combining it with Victoria Falls, a few days on the Lower Zambezi River or on Lake Malawi.
